Thank you for your interest in the Association of Shotokan Karate (ASK). The study of Karate offers the opportunity for both mental and physical growth. Your path of learning Karate will be as long and challenging as you choose.
The ASK is dedicated to the ideals of traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate. Our responsibility is to our members. It is our goal to effectively develop and maximize a member’s technical skills, achievement and exemplary character. It is equally important that each of our members take responsibility in representing and maintaining the ASK.
Karate means “empty hand.” This refers to the ability to defend oneself without the use of weapons. It also means learning how to respond to conflict without violence. To be ready and able to live in peace with those who may try to do us harm.
Karate is about non-violence through strength of mind, body, and spirit.
Welcome to our association.
